Well, here is it…. Week #7 of Transformation Thursday for Most Everything Vintage – my final week of this summer series.
About this Series: The first week of June I decided to start a fun little summer project for our vintage shop called ‘Transformation Thursday’ where I take 10 vintage garments and simply transform them with a beginning photo on a dress form and after 30 minutes of sewing, then on one of my customers. In seven weeks I had the honor of transforming 70 pieces and photographing 15 beautiful ladies from age 11 to 32. It was a lot of work but so worth it. My final week of transformations was the first week of August.
I would like to introduce to you the beautiful Isabel. Isabel is 11 years old, entering 6th grade this fall. She has a twin sister. Isabel has loved fashion for years… She loves to play with clothes creating fun outfits. She also loves to do hair! Show her a picture of a fancy braid and she can do it! She is a helpful big sister, and her favorite way to help mom is by picking out outfits for the younger girls, and doing their hair for school and church. Isabel also enjoys reading, drawing, playing board games, and spending time with family. She has a fun, friendly, sensitive personality. Her family recently moved to Vancouver from Central Oregon, so Isabel has been enjoying making new friends, exploring new places, and experiencing life in the big city!
So honored to have my 15th model be the lovely Miss Olivia Hiller. In all my years of photographing I have discovered that the camera likes some people more than others. From the first shot, it was evident that the camera ‘loved’ Olivia Hiller. Knew at this moment that she would be the perfect model for our ‘Mad about Plaid’ shoot taken a week ago. thought it would be fun to post some of my favorite close-ups from our ‘transformation’ shoot along with four images from our ‘Mad about Plaid’ full team editorial shoot.
A little about Olivia Hiller. She is 15 and will be starting her sophomore year in High school in September. She just moved to Vancouver from Tennessee. She loves living here in the Northwest and is looking forward to exploring The Portland/Vancouver area. She loves the beach and is thrilled to be living close enough for frequent trips to the Oregon coast! Olivia is very creative. She loves to draw and paint and is very good at both! She also loves music, theater, Shakespeare in the park, and reading. She loves vintage clothing and her favorite era is the 20’s. Loved being able to put one of my newly created 20’s headpieces on Olivia to go along with both dresses.
It has been fun transforming these treasures while inspiring younger decades in vintage fashion. With fall and our busiest season of the year right around the corner, it is time to focus on the shop.
Thank you all who have followed, shared and encouraged this summer series. Always fun hearing which ones have been your favorites. It has been a delight having you as part of the creative process. For those of you wondering where the ‘scraps’ go, you will be happy to know that all have been recycled to young sewers and crafters.
Special thanks to my models this week; Ember, Olivia and Isabel along with Tasha who took the photos of Ember.
