What an incredible evening! Another ‘sold-out’ Couve Couture fashion Show. The event was held at the Red Lion – Vancouver at the Quay in the Grand Ballroom. There were ten local designers which included Seth Aaron – Project Runway two-time winner along with about 100 models. In attendance were 530 guests, media reps, videographers, hair and make-up artists and many photographers. I was lucky enough to have Michael from totallycaptivating.com as my runway photo genius!
I couldn’t do this without my creative team –
Ashley Rauch: Coiffeur Artist – ashleyvancouverhair.com
Meghan Hamilton: Make-up Artist – beautybymeghan.com
Michael: Runway Photographer – totallycaptivating.com
Clothing Assistants: Patrick Tetreault (hubby) and Julie Smith
Models: Claire, Tyler, Weston, Ben, Jordan, Julie, Bailey, Bridgette
I am currently the only Couve Couture designer who does modified Vintage. I had so much fun with this last project converting too-short-to-wear vintage pants into knickerbockers leaving me just enough material to make bow-ties. To add a touch of 30’s elegance I converted unwearable vintage fur coats into collars and clutches worn with true 30’s dresses that had been repaired. The goal was to create a 30’s look with a modern twist somewhat like what you would see in a high-fashion magazine. One of our challenges was finding long enough socks. Thankfully one of my regular customers gave me the idea to cut off the toes. Thank you Melissa! Now to figure out what to do with six pairs of toe-less socks. Hmmmm….. vintage sock puppets?
Since the runway show I have sold many of the re-created items. I plan to continue creating bow-ties, ascots and knickerbockers for summer and fall. Most of the original pants are made of wool or a wool blend. They will be perfect for October when we transform our shop into ‘Mad about Wool and Plaid.’

Couve Couture has gotten so big that we have decided to do just one show a year, whew! As co-coordinator and marketing director of this fabulous show I am looking forward to a summer to just focus on the shop and hang out with customers. Already have some custom animal masks and head pieces to make… time to get out the feathers!
